Why Vitamin K2

Vitamin K contributes to normal blood clotting and to the maintenance of normal bones.^[1] The K2 form activates vitamin K–dependent proteins — osteocalcin, which binds calcium into the bone matrix, and matrix Gla protein, which inhibits calcium deposition in soft tissue. This is why K2 is widely studied alongside vitamin D3: D3 increases calcium absorption, while K2-activated proteins help direct where that calcium is used.

Why MK-7, not MK-4

Sheni Labs uses menaquinone-7 (MK-7), the long-chain form of K2 produced by bacterial fermentation. MK-7 has a serum half-life of approximately three days, compared with roughly one to two hours for MK-4 — meaning a single low-microgram daily dose maintains stable blood levels, which MK-4 cannot achieve without repeated large doses. Only the all-trans isomer of MK-7 is biologically active; the cis isomer, common in poorly controlled synthesis, is inactive. Sheni Labs specifies all-trans MK-7 and tests the isomer ratio on every batch.

MK-7 obtained by controlled bacterial fermentation, the same biological route that produces K2 in natto. MCT carrier oil (Miglyol® 812 N), Ph.Eur. grade.

How to Use

Adults: take 1 drop daily, with a meal, unless otherwise advised by a healthcare professional. Vitamin K2 is fat-soluble; taking with food improves absorption. Pairs naturally with Sheni Labs Vitamin D3 — the two can be taken together.
