Product Specification

What form of omega-3 does Sheni Labs Omega-3 contain? EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) derived from algae oil, not fish oil.

What is the dose per serving? 1,000 mg of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA + DHA) per 5 ml serving.

Is there an EU NRV? No. The EU has not established a Nutrient Reference Value for EPA or DHA. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) recommends a minimum of 250 mg EPA+DHA per day for general adult health. This product delivers 4× that recommendation per serving.

What is the bottle size? 30 mL, approximately 6 servings.

Where is it manufactured? European Union.

What is the product format? Liquid oil, spoon or dropper serving.

Why Algae, Not Fish

Why use algae oil instead of fish oil? Fish obtain EPA and DHA by eating algae — algae is the original source. Algae-derived omega-3 delivers the same fatty acids without relying on fish, and is naturally Kosher, Halal, and vegan-compatible. It also eliminates concerns about heavy metal contamination that can affect some fish oil products, provided the algae oil itself is tested, which Sheni Labs does.

Does algae omega-3 have the same effect as fish oil? EPA and DHA are the same molecules regardless of whether they come from algae or fish. The relevant factor is the dose and purity of EPA and DHA, not the animal or plant source it came from.

Usage

Recommended use? Adults: 5 ml (approximately 1 teaspoon) daily, with a meal, unless otherwise advised by a healthcare professional.

Why take with food? Omega-3 fatty acids are fat-soluble. Taking with a meal that contains dietary fat improves absorption.

Is this suitable for children? Keep out of reach of young children. Consult a healthcare professional before giving to children.

Oxidative Stability

What is the risk of omega-3 going rancid? Omega-3 oils oxidise over time, producing peroxides that reduce quality. Sheni Labs tests every batch for peroxide value — the same measure used for our MCT carrier oil — and the result is published on the batch record. This is not standard practice in the category.
