Product Specification
What form of vitamin B12 does Sheni Labs Vitamin B12 contain? Methylcobalamin — one of the two coenzyme forms the body actually uses, not cyanocobalamin.
What is the dose per serving? 500 µg of methylcobalamin per drop — 20,000% of the EU Nutrient Reference Value (NRV for B12: 2.5 µg).
Why is the NRV percentage so high? B12 absorption saturates: the intrinsic-factor pathway handles roughly 1.5–2 µg per meal, and beyond that only about 1% of an oral dose is absorbed by passive diffusion. High oral doses are the evidence-based way to achieve reliable absorption — including in people whose intrinsic-factor pathway no longer works. Clinical trials show high-dose oral B12 performs comparably to intramuscular injection.
What is the bottle size? 30 mL, approximately 800 drops.
Where is it manufactured? European Union (Poland), same facility as all Sheni Labs products.
Methylcobalamin vs Cyanocobalamin
What is the difference? Cyanocobalamin is a low-cost synthetic form that must be converted in the body, releasing a trace cyanide group. Methylcobalamin is a coenzyme form found in food and human plasma — no conversion, no cyanide moiety.
Is B12 safe at this dose? No tolerable upper intake level has been established for vitamin B12 by EFSA or the US Institute of Medicine. B12 is water-soluble and excess is excreted.
Who Needs B12
Who is at risk of deficiency? Older adults (reduced stomach acid and intrinsic factor), vegans and vegetarians (B12 occurs naturally only in animal-source foods), long-term metformin users, and long-term users of acid-suppressing medication (PPIs, H2 blockers).
Does a supplement replace medical treatment? No. Diagnosed B12 deficiency or pernicious anaemia should be managed with your doctor. A supplement supports; it does not replace treatment.
Usage
Recommended use? Adults: 1 drop daily, with or without food, unless otherwise advised by a healthcare professional.
Why the amber glass bottle? Cobalamins are light-sensitive and degrade with light exposure. Amber glass is a functional requirement for this product, not packaging aesthetics.
Verification
How do I verify my bottle is authentic? Enter the LOT number printed on the bottle at shenilabs.ge/verify-your-batch/ to see manufacturing date, expiry, and available batch documentation.
